Last month Coffee Hound roaster, Trace Armstrong, traveled to Portland to represent the Coffee Hound at The Compak Golden Bean Roasting Competition. There Trace got to cup an espresso and milk course with some of the top roasters and coffee people in the United States while also discussing their craft, industry trends, tasting, and what makes for the perfect roast.
Additionally, Trace met with old friends and colleagues, including Ben Weiner of the Gold Mountain Coffee Growers, who provided Trace with more details concerning our new Nicaraguan coffee beans, and former Coffee Hound barista, Steve Replogle, who showed Trace all the best hangouts around Portland.
Most importantly though, after competing against nearly 600 other contestants, Trace brought home the Compak Golden Bean Roasting Competition’s Bronze Medal for Filter Coffee using the Coffee Hound’s Burundi Musumba!
