This month we will be saying goodbye to longtime, beloved barista Darian Longmire as he moves to Chicago and gears up for grad school. However, what many of you may not know is that Darian is an accomplished, local artist.

Having experimented with several art forms, Darian says he is best described as a printmaker, an artist who carves a pattern in wood or metal, applies ink to it, and then prints the pattern on press or paper. First introduced to prints nearly four years ago as a student at ISU, Darian came to enjoy the method because it lends itself to change and alterations, as well as produces repeatable works.

Since beginning his work with prints, Darian has had success selling his art around BloNo, and has had his work on display at the McLean Art Center Holiday Showcase.

Currently, several of Darian’s works are featured at the Coffee Hound’s Normal location, each one inspired by celestial images and complemented by Darian’s personal artistic and philosophical perspectives. These prints will be on display through the end of the month. If you would like to purchase one for your own collection, or to decorate your home or office, please speak to any member of our staff the next time you stop by.
